Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Ideate collects, what stays local, what may leave your device, and how to contact us.
Effective date: May 1, 2026

Company: Ideate LLC
1. Overview
Ideate is a local-first desktop workspace for capturing ideas, organizing them in Home and cards, expanding them into canvases, and using optional AI-assisted workspace tools.
Local-first does not mean cloudless. Ideate stores workspace data primarily on your device, but some features require cloud-connected services, including account sign-in, AI requests, transcription, updates, diagnostics, payments, licensing, and support.
This Privacy Policy explains what Ideate collects, what stays local, what may leave your device, how information is used, and how to contact us.
2. Information we collect or process
Ideate may collect or process information you provide when you use the website, desktop app, account features, payments, support, AI features, dictation, browser/resource tiles, or other cloud-connected features.
This may include:
- Account information, such as email address and account identifiers.
- Billing and subscription information handled through payment, billing, merchant-of-record, app store, or licensing providers.
- Support information, such as emails, messages, screenshots, logs, device details, app version, and files or details you choose to send.
- AI feature content, such as prompts, messages, selected workspace context, attachments, images, audio, transcription content, and related tool context that you choose to send through AI-connected features.
- Diagnostics and usage information, such as app events, crash reports, error logs, device information, operating system, app version, request metadata, and feature usage.
- Third-party site activity when you use browser/resource tiles or interact with third-party websites or services.
3. Information stored locally
Ideate stores workspace data primarily on your device. This may include ideas, groups, cards, canvases, attachments, chats, workspace records, app settings, exports, and related local files.
Authentication data may be stored using secure storage mechanisms provided by your operating system.
Local data remains under your control on your device unless you delete it, export it, send it to a cloud-connected feature, send it to support, remove local app data, or uninstall the app in a way that removes local data.
Ideate is not a cloud backup service. You are responsible for your own device, local files, backups, exports, and deletion choices.
4. Information sent to cloud services
Information may leave your device when you use features that require cloud processing or third-party services.
This may happen when you sign in, check subscription or licensing status, use AI features, use dictation or transcription, request updates, send diagnostics, contact support, make payments, or load third-party websites through browser/resource tiles.
Only use cloud-connected features with content you are comfortable sending to the relevant service providers.
5. AI, Workmate, dictation, and transcription
When you use Workmate, AI, dictation, transcription, or related features, Ideate may send selected prompts, messages, files, images, audio, transcription content, workspace context, tool context, and request metadata through Ideate systems to the AI or transcription provider used for the feature.
Ideate may process usage metadata such as account identifiers, provider, model, request type, token usage, timing, and error information for metering, abuse prevention, debugging, billing, product operations, and reliability.
AI and transcription providers process submitted information under their own terms and privacy policies. Avoid submitting sensitive information to AI or transcription features if you do not want that information processed by third-party providers.
6. Workbench, Local Codex, files, and local tools
Workbench and Local Codex features may work with local files, folders, project context, prompts, commands, file paths, outputs, commits, branches, pushes, pull requests, or other development-related information when you authorize those features.
Depending on your setup, those features may process information locally, through Ideate systems, through local tools, or through third-party code-assistant or AI-provider services connected to your own account or session.
You are responsible for reviewing what folders, files, prompts, commands, and outputs you authorize.
7. Browser/resource tiles and third-party sites
Browser and resource tiles may load third-party websites or services directly. Those third parties may collect information such as IP address, cookies, credentials you enter, account activity, page interactions, uploads, downloads, or other information you provide to them.
Third-party websites and services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Ideate is not responsible for their content, policies, payments, accounts, or data practices.
8. Payments, billing, and licensing
Paid subscriptions, taxes, invoices, payment processing, refunds, chargebacks, fraud checks, subscription management, and licensing may be handled by third-party payment, merchant-of-record, billing, app store, or licensing providers.
Ideate may receive limited billing-related information such as account email, customer ID, subscription status, plan, renewal status, transaction status, invoice status, refund status, chargeback status, and licensing status.
Ideate does not intentionally store full payment card numbers on its own systems.
9. Analytics, diagnostics, and reliability
Ideate may use analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, logging, and reliability tools to understand errors, crashes, usage patterns, performance, feature behavior, abuse, and product stability.
These tools may receive device information, app version, operating system, event data, error data, request metadata, usage information, and diagnostic logs. Ideate uses masking, redaction, minimization, or configuration controls where practical, but diagnostics may still include information needed to operate and improve the product.
10. How we use information
Ideate uses information to provide and improve the product, authenticate users, operate accounts, process AI and transcription features, check subscription and licensing status, process payments and refunds, provide updates, diagnose bugs and crashes, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, enforce terms, protect security, and meet legal or operational requirements.
11. How we share information
Ideate may share information with service providers and third parties needed to operate the product. These may include providers for authentication, hosting, AI processing, transcription, diagnostics, analytics, updates, payments, billing, licensing, customer support, email, fraud prevention, and security.
Ideate may also disclose information if required by law, to protect Ideate or users, to investigate abuse or security issues, to enforce terms, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of business assets.
Ideate does not sell personal information for money. Ideate does not use workspace content for targeted advertising.
12. Online tracking and Do Not Track
The Ideate website and cloud-connected services may use cookies, analytics, or similar technologies to operate the site, understand usage, improve reliability, and support payments or account flows.
At this time, Ideate does not respond differently to browser Do Not Track signals. Third-party websites loaded through browser/resource tiles may respond to tracking signals differently and are governed by their own policies.
13. Data retention
Local workspace data remains on your device until you delete it, export it, remove local app data, or uninstall the app in a way that removes local data.
Account, support, billing, licensing, diagnostics, analytics, security, and usage records may be retained by Ideate or its providers as needed to provide the product, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, maintain business records, and operate the company.
14. Your choices and requests
You can choose what content to create, attach, import, export, send to AI features, send to support, or enter into third-party sites.
You can avoid optional AI, dictation, transcription, browser/resource tile, analytics-enabled, or support features where practical. You can delete local data from your device, sign out, cancel paid subscriptions through the applicable billing flow, and contact Ideate about account-related or privacy-related requests.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or limits on certain processing of personal information. To make a request, contact support@ideatehome.com. We may need information to verify your identity and account before acting on a request.
15. Security
Ideate uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No app, website, local device, network, or third-party service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are responsible for securing your device, account, operating system, passwords, backups, exports, local files, and third-party accounts.
16. International users
Ideate LLC is a U.S. company. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where Ideate or its service providers operate. Those countries may have different privacy laws than your country.
17. Children's privacy
Ideate is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Ideate, contact support@ideatehome.com so we can review the request.
18. Changes to this policy
Ideate may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes. If we make material changes, we will update the last updated date and provide notice when appropriate.
